How to download updates and set up the PAK MKII
1. Check for updates for the PAK MKII (there will be a secure connection to the server) or download updates from the Partner-Portal to your computer.
Select the update to be downloaded:
- either PAK live - the current release of the update package,
- or PAK live Lab - the latest pre-release of the upcoming update package.
Select the PAK live update package to use the known features of the PAK capture suite in your environment. The scope of operation has been approved by release tests and can be guaranteed. The new lab-version of the PAK live update package is a pre-release version. Select the lab-version of the update package to use and test the new features and developments of the PAK capture suite in your environment today! Complete reliability of operation cannot be guaranteed.

Click on + to open the PAK live Resources timeline to find historic versions of PAK capture / PAK live update packages and download or drag&drop these versions.
If the Last lookup with the PAK tunes resource server failed, the connection to the server from which the updates are to be downloaded could not be established.
If there is no connection to the server, deactivate Use default proxy server.
If the checkbox is activated, PAK tunes uses:
- the current user's Internet Explorer (IE) proxy settings, and
- the Windows credentials (user name, password, and domain) of the user who is working with PAK tunes, for authentication at the proxy server.
These settings might result in connectivity problems. PAK tunes will save the status of the checkbox for the proxy server.
If no internet connection is available for the computer, which is connected to the PAK MKII, another computer with PAK tunes can be used to select and download the requested package. After the download, the package is saved on the computer in the directory
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MuellerBBM-VAS\PAK tunes
This directory needs to be transferred completely to the computer, which is connected to the PAK MKII. On this computer, the Update Schedule needs to be set to Disabled. Using PAK tunes on this computer, the transferred data can be used to upload the package to the PAK MKII.
The "Discovery Service", used to discover all PAK MKII providing Wi-Fi, works like a broadcast. PAK tunes asks for all available PAK MKII and the frontends send the answer. If the broadcast mode is not wanted, the IP scan can be used to discover exactly single wanted frontends. The IP scan sends a ping to the selected IP addresses, and the frontends send an answer.
The selected service is executed each time PAK tunes is started or refreshed.
"Disconnected" does not mean, that the Wi-Fi connection is lost. "Disconnected" means that PAK tunes is not logged in to PAK live.
All PAK MKII providing Wi-Fi will be detected by the discovery service or the IP-scan. This includes frontends on which firmware for working with PAK Software is currently installed. If this device shall be used together with the PAK capture app and PAK tunes, the respective firmware needs to be installed via PAK tunes.
It is not possible to login for the use of one PAK MKII with multiple users in parallel. This also means that as long as PAK tunes is logged in, it is not possible to login with the PAK capture app, nor the other way round. If you cannot log in, because the PAK MKII is occupied by another user, please contact the user who is logged in.
