Transfer Path Analysis in the Acoustics Engineering

Mathematical and experimental fundamentals of TPA approaches

With the help of the Transfer Path Analysis, the transmission of sound and vibration in structures, vehicles or buildings can be analyzed. With this result, the targeted development of sound- and vibration-reducing measures is possible.

The Operational Transfer Path Analysis (OTPA) is an addition to the Transfer Path Analysis (TPA). The OTPA is associated with a significantly lower measurement technology effort. Another approach is the "Blocked-Force TPA", which is suitable for component-oriented optimization and rapid evaluation of design changes.

During the two-day seminar, the mathematical and experimental basics of the different approaches will be explained, and their possibilities and limitations described. Examples from the automotive industry and the ship and rail vehicle construction will be used to illustrate applications of the methods in the development process. Details ...

The seminar is a joint event of Müller-BBM GmbH and Müller-BBM VibroAkustik Systeme GmbH.

Selected training contents:

  • Overview about TPA methods (e.g. Classical TPA, Operational TPA, PCA, CTC, force determination, reference positions, transfer functions, operating conditions, reciprocity)
  • Application backgrounds, measurement technology aspects, and fields of use
  • Application examples from the automotive industry, shipbuilding, and railway (including OTPA and simulated pass-by or signature prediction, acoustic management and acoustic predictions)
  • Blocked-Force TPA in theory and usage
