"With the challenges of electromobility, we can see how the classic boundaries between the disciplines are increasingly blurring. For development tools, this means the need to offer cross-domain solutions and to enable an exchange between different expert systems.

Using the PAK live.hub interface, Vector can transmit all vehicle bus and control unit data, analogue measured variables from the high-voltage systems, as well as the real-time calculation results from e.g. the power analysis, to the PAK system in a time-synchronous and high-performance manner. This enables the NVH specialists not only to investigate the effects, but also to understand the interdependencies between system states in the integrated system and to further develop the properties of the overall system.

Use case: Extension of the PAK acoustic measurement system with Vector’s high-voltage measurement technology on an acoustic test bench

High-voltage components play an important role in acoustic investigations on electric vehicles. Their detection requires a special high-voltage-safe measurement technology. This is realised by coupling PAK with the Vector measurement system.

High-Voltage Measurement Systems

For the high-voltage extension, CANape is used with the fast-function library eMobilityAnalyzer as data acquisition software on a powerful VP7450 automotive computer. An external PTP Grand Master Clock enables high-precision synchronisation with the VP7450. Here, various CSM HV BM measurement modules, as well as analogue measurement technology modules, were connected via Ethernet for acquisition in the high-voltage system.

CANape reliably acquires the data at a high acquisition rate of up to 2 MSa/s per channel, while the eMobilityAnalyzer performs calculations in real time to determine the desired target variables such as power, ripple, etc.

The signals as well as the calculated signals of the eMobilityAnalyzer are made available by CANape to the PAK live.hub interface, with PTP synchronised time stamps. 

In addition to the high-voltage measurement technology, signals from ECUs and vehicle buses are also available and can be passed on to the PAK system.  

Thanks to this interfacing, all HV system signals can be perfectly synchronized and recorded together with the acoustic variables in the PAK system, to be stored and used in evaluations.
