Experimental Dynamic Substructuring
VIBES.technology brings innovative solutions for sound & vibration to the automotive and high-tech industries. Using the VIBES methodology, computer simulations and test measurement data are combined, addressing vibration challenges before a physical prototype is built.
This new method of Experimental Dynamic Substructuring allows to decrease the engineering time and effort required, as well as overall development costs – thus resulting in reliable, time-efficient and cost-effective measurements.
VIBES developed four applications to for instance prepare and post-process measurement data in Dynamic Substructuring, test-based modeling and source characterization problems.

Use Case: Blocked Force Source Characterization on E-compressor
The source characterization was successfully applied to an electric air-cooling compressor (ELAC) using the measurement system PAK MKII and the PAK live.hub connection for seamless data quality, with two different approaches to compute blocked forces.
The determined forces were used for the synthesis of the structure-borne compressor noise at a structural response point and on the driver’s ear. Having two sets of blocked forces for the same operational states demonstrated the transferability and overall robustness of the characterization.
Both used methods yield the same result, which means that the blocked forces are indeed independent of the testing conditions. An efficient execution of measurements and complex analyzes, achieving reliable and traceable test results.
